Warren Buffet often insists the companies he has a stake in buy back many shares in order to keep the stock price up (and guarantee the loans he uses to buy stocks). The problem with IBM is they have been buying back stock to the exclusion of any R&D. Maybe that works for a soft-drink company but it is a slow death for a tech company. IBM may do better once Buffet quits giving it advice.
