*AV* -- KNOCK KNOCK, HE'S BAAAACK !!!! I have to catch up on a few hundred posts. A little birdie emailed me and said the hunt was on.
Let the games begin.

Briefly, I was on sabbatical where the laptop died and the available PCs to log on were 386/496 class systems with 14K modems. Hardly worth the effort. Been busy doing the year end shuffling of portfolio for tax purposes and visiting family from both ends og the country. What a bear (WHOOPS) of a time.

I have been sending out some private stuff to test the speed of my scanning capabilities and the new speech software. The scanner is getting better since I scan and OCR into MSOFFICE 95 (I will not use Office 97 due to backward compatibility in MSWORD). This is working. The speech stuff stinks. I can dictate for less than 2 minutes then it freezes up. This is the Dragon Systems Naturally Speaking (of course it is Ver 1.0). I spend an hour a day on the phone with Tech support going through the troubleshooting I am performing at no charge, it seems. Apparently this problem ONLY occurs on the Soundblaster AWE64 sound card. Yeah, software is blaming hardware. What else is new??? We are working through it but they clain the fix is a $40 replacement sound card from COMPUSA. The board is an off brand and inferior in capabilities. More on this later.

Anyway, I will work my way back into things here with cut and paste scanned info that might be useful to some. The previous emails were related to a New York Times article from this past Sunday and some heads up on that dental laser company relative to warrants being exercised. Anyone interested and I will send it out to you through email. Just drop me a line at stepman@hotmail.com

Let the games begin again.

Andrew
