Software and new tech seem to operate at different standards than normal companies. Should a manufacturer sell a faulty product, it would be recalled and the purchaser reimbursed. Happens all the time in the auto industry for example.

Some of the biggest and richest companies in the world, like Microsoft, have never had to worry about such trivial things. But taking a fuller view, if they were held accountable, it would stifle development, so we just can't win.
