Can you point me to a place on the net where I can find the individual stocks that make up the various indexes ?

...click on Options & Derivatives then click on Index Options then click on Sector Indexes and you will be presented with a list. Choose one, say - XOI.X Oil Sector and click on the name; finally, click on + Specifications and you will get a list of the underlying index components.

...this is a list of the S&P-100 or OEX.X components, with weights.

...this is a direct link to the DAX-30 in Germany. When markets are influencing one another (like the HONK or NIKKEI and the FTSE or DAX), you can sometimes anticipate a drop or rise in one (later) because of what is happening on some other (now); etc.
Finally, some Sector Indices are more-or-less driven by some essential commodity future, eg., XOI.X and OSX.X are influenced by OIL. You will need the symbols for these futures to generate charts. Using my favourite WWWeb (candlestick) chart generator...
