5/19/2017 Contest update Despite days of ominous political headlines and a scary plunge on Wednesday, stocks were only off a bit for the week. And the Contest median actually managed a tiny gain. Then ;-), there’s this prediction by a Wharton School finance professor: cnbc.com Meanwhile, at Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 15.75% YTD (vs. up 15.42% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 9.62% YTD (vs. up 10.54% YTD a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 16.67% YTD (vs. up 18.40% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) closed up 13.01% YTD (vs. up 13.71% YTD a week ago). TOMP’s portfolio, up 53.66% YTD, remained in first place with ROBO’s portfolio, up 49.30% YTD, holding on to second place. HRS’s portfolio, up 47.82% YTD, moved into third place. At Friday's close, 43 of the 48 Contest portfolios are now in the green, with 35 beating the NBI and 21 beating the SPSIBI. The 195 Contest portfolio stock picks have an average YTD gain of 13.24% and a median YTD gain of 4.11%, with 108 of the 195 picks up for the year. Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.) Portfolio adjustments: ARGX.BR (arGEN-X or Argenx) began Nasdaq trading as ARGX and I will now track it there in dollars. (All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.) Enjoy another spring weekend biotechies! Peace & good health, Bulba
