The opportunity for abuse is massive. I have enough to worry about keeping my computers, smartphone and tablets up-to-date with security patches, I sure don't want to have to worry about my toaster mining Bitcoins for some hacker without my knowledge.

Can you imagine having to pay a ransom to turn your heat back on in the winter? Pay to turn your water on? Pay to keep somebody from blowing up your house by shorting the furnace? Shut the fridge off and let the food spoil?
