Not, I do not work for Ascend. I used to work for another large LAN/WAN company but now I am now working in the telecom industry for one of the largest financial institutes in the world supporting their WAN infrastructure. I wasn't taking a shot at you or Shiva, but simply asking you a question. And I never said that Shiva was a `G-D awful' company. I have seen your posts on a few different threads praising Shiva and therefore I want to know why you are so optimistic about them. I am familiar with the Shiva VantagePath Access Concentrator, the LanRover Access Server, as well as, Shiva's joint development work with Nortel. I see promise in all of them. What I don't see is widespread acceptance of Shiva at this time. Maybe its because the customer is concerned about the lack of strength in Shiva due to its size and product mix. In all of the RFI/RFPs that I have been involved in the players are Cisco, Ascend, and to a lesser extent Bay and 3Com. Shiva isn't even considered. Obviously, you feel that this will change. Maybe you are right. My thoughts on this are that the only way this will work would be through a Cabletron, Shiva, and Nortel alliance.
