>>>agree, as long as you recently bought it because (as i think you've said) it's not a good store of value, but a method of transfer.<<<

Never wrote that nor intended to imply that, I'm a long time HODLer <sic>.

What I wrote implied that when used as a method of transfer the price of the token wasn't important to the entities making the transfer as the transaction only spent seconds in the native currency, not long enough for them to gain or lose value. Where ahhaha and I argued was whether this meant the token would rise or fall in value in the future. I turned out to be "right" for all the wrong reasons, speculation has driven up the price.

>>>i don't think that being the reserve currency adds much, if any, value to the dollar. it can stand on its own. <<<

This statement reminds me of one of my favorite jokes where a teacher asks the class which is more important the Sun or the Moon. Johnny stands up and says, "The Moon" The teacher asks why and he answers, "Because the Moon shines at night when it is dark and the Sun is up when it's light anyway."

The reserve status of the USD is like the Sun. Maybe no one fully appreciates it until it is gone.

Clearly the fact that the USD had "stand alone" value placed on it precedes its use as the reserve currency, as in:

the dollar gets its value from the efficiency of labor in the US

One would have a hard time arguing that the current state of affairs supports its current position in finance now.
