Lawd-a-merci they've struck again. California politicians that is.

There's a 4-lane highway that runs along the beach in my town that all the beach city commuters use to get to work. Trouble is, that small strip of highway is owned by the city of Los Angeles.

So an L.A. city councilman decided that 2 bike lanes were needed more than the commuters need the extra lanes. In an aptly named project - Project Zero - that he came up with, they are going to re-stripe the highway reducing the 4-lanes to 2-lanes and create 2 bike lanes. The reasoning behind this: to prevent pedestrian and bike accidents.

About 15-20 yards from the highway, there's a bike path and a pedestrian path that run along the beach from Redondo Beach to Santa Monica - 20 miles long.

Do you suppose anyone pointed out to this nitwit that there's already a bike path? Did it occur to him to put up signs pointing to where the bike path is instead of letting them on a heavily traveled highway? Nope, let's spend millions re-striping and inconveniencing people.
