You are arguing whether or not it was a good idea to engage the Paris Accord. Even if it wasn't, that's the wrong question. We don't get a do-over. It was done. Can't step in the same river twice.

Fast forward to now, where the question is whether to dump it, having already signed on along with 175 other countries. Different metrics, different climate, different risks involved. The folks happy about this are focusing on going back and taking a pass on Paris rather than the risks of walking now.

It's like the difference between deciding if you want to marry a woman and deciding years later to dump her. While a lot of the factors are constant, the decision is quite different because the status quo is different.

While one could make an argument that joining the agreement was a bad idea--I could make one--I have not yet heard an argument for dumping the agreement based on today's situation vs yesterdays alleged mistake.
