Paul:
Again I do not have and do not plan on buying any Modems
period let alone the modems mentioned as not being upgradable.

In your enthusiam as an Apologist for Intel you are again
trying to detract from the issue by trying to be facetious using
such words as "duped". I never said I felt like a victim or was
"duped".There are hundreds of Manufacturers of Modems out there
and modems are not Vital to the operation of a Computer in the
same way that a CPU is. Perhaps thats why they call them
"Central" process units.Apparently any type of Marketing is
ok with you if you possess the type of symbotic relationship with
Intel that you do.

The issue I presented and always has been that everbody does not
read a "technical manual" before they go out and buy a Computer
for whatever reason.Even the ones that dont read a Tecnical Manual
understand that Technology will make that Computer face
obselance in the near Future. It was the Industry that used the
word "crippled"to describe the SX.Why should Buyers not only face
the inevitable technical advances but also have one built in from
the Onset? If Intel built it in deliberately to appeal to a certain
segment of the Market then it should have been advertised as such
or the other explanation was that Intel Engineers didnt know what
they were doing. Your Choice.I can go out and pay $3000 for a
Computer or if I am savvy and know what I am doing I can get the
same functions for about $1500.00 and probably a 5% difference
in performance at the most.In many cases, I can now get one for
less than $1000 which is adequate for many people. If the
Manufacturer advertises "upgradable........ " and then one buys
it with that thought in mind and when they go to upgrade it they
find that the portion they wish to upgrade is proprietary and
instead of just one aspect they have to buy a whole new Board then
no they are not being "duped".This is a word as an Apologist for
your beloved "Intel" that you like to throw around when not trying
to compare Apples and Oranges to try and make others seem less
informed to you. Sort of an Ego trip I guess. Didnt Cyrix and
AMD let you paly in their Sandbox while only Intel was gracious
enough to do so.Again my point was at what point does one believe
in responsible marketing or requiring the Consumer to read a
Technical Manual or every Major Computer magazine published in the
last 12 months before making a Computer purchase?
