Apparently you haven't reviewed the OLAP test results completely either.
Completely? No, but I was at least aware of them. The value of dissenting opinion isn't in question but you didn't offer a reason for your categorical conclusion about their real-time analytical tools business. Now, you have commented on Applix response time being much faster than competitors', however, you also point out that the overall execution time isn't given. How would that be meaningful to customers using this in an interactive session? Clearly they are focusing on fast response and that's what customers want. Overnight batch processing efficiency is another story and there's nothing precluding them from annihilating the competition on that score either.
The benchmark, used to test performance and scalability of OLAP products, showed that TM1 delivers first query results 625% and 2,300% faster than competing products from Oracle and Arbor Software, respectively. Despite running on less powerful hardware, TM1 completed the first 118,000 queries before Oracle Express was ready to run a query. TM1completed the entire benchmark before Arbor Essbase answered a single query. Additionally, in performing the benchmark tests, TM1 created a database that was more than 100 times smaller than the database created by Oracle Express and more than 300 times smaller than that created by Arbor Essbase. |
