You flatter yourself. Our financial successes are due more to luck (defined as random events that happened to work in our favor) than anything else. Being in the right place at the right time far outweighs intelligence and hard work. We both know many people who are smarter than we are, who have worked much harder than we have, and who haven't made as many mistakes as we have, yet we have earned and accumulated far more wealth than they have. If there's anything special about us, it's not our hard work and intelligence, it's how fortunate we've been.
