Obama EO for illegals still in effect under Trump
by David Leach • June 12, 2017

It’s a common practice in Washington to find a way to dump bad news on the American people at a time when it’s likely to go unnoticed. Donald Trump is no exception to the rule, particularly when it comes to the fact that that he’s once again breaking his campaign promises.

While the country was fixated on James Comey’s testimony before the Senate Intelligence committee—boy, that’s a contradiction in terms—the Trump Administration released a report from the office of US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The report showed that Trump has left Obama’s unconstitutional amnesty policies protecting so-called DREAMers in effect.

Using Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Executive Order, Trump has given access to work permits, Social Security numbers, driver’s licenses, Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC), and much more to over 17,000 new applications from illegal immigrants during the period of January-March. This is in addition to over 107,000 DACA renewals.

This broken promise comes as no surprise to the Strident Conservative. I wrote about Trump’s betrayal concerning DACA back in February when he officially rejected his campaign promise to overturn Obama’s Executive order, thus allowing illegals to stay in the country.

You could argue that Trump is allowing DACA renewals during his learning curve as he figures out how to do the job he was elected to do. Even if that were true, there is nothing preventing Trump from denying new applicants unless he has no intention of keeping his word on the matter.

Personally, I think that’s exactly the case.

Trump has demonstrated a total lack of ability or conviction—probably both—when it comes to keeping his campaign promises. But his broken DACA promise means more crime, overcrowded schools filled with non-English-speaking students, and an explosion in the already-bankrupt welfare state.

Meanwhile, the Trump cult continues to praise the man who could shoot somebody on 5th Avenue without losing their support.
