I always wanted to live in a van for a while, then live on a boat for a while. But I fell in love, became a father and had to abandon those plans. I kid you not.
In fact, we have sold all our beautiful furniture, art work and possessions over the past few weeks with no qualms whatsoever. People say to us all the time, don't you feel bad about getting rid of all this beautiful stuff at discounted pricing and our response is no, no regrets whatsoever.
We are living in our loft with just a mattress, two chairs, and a table which the buyer is taking. We close in a week, 6/22 and head out West. My wife has sold her house too. We got top dollar, 10% above our list price. And our places sold immediately. Everything went smooth up to this point.
Funny you should mention a van because I asked my wife yesterday how she would feel if I sold my Mercedes and she sold her BMW and we bought a van and she said that sounds cool. Why should we travel separately in two different cars if we can travel together in a bigger van?
And we like sleeping just on a mattress better than with a box spring.
Deep down, I never really got over my hippie ways.
