A New York area event planner with close ties to the Trump family—but no experience in housing policy—has been appointed by President Trump to lead the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Region II, which covers New York and New Jersey. Much like Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, Lynne Patton has no experience in the field but is a longtime Trump loyalist. Patton planned Eric Trump’s wedding in 2014 and served as vice president of the Eric Trump Foundation, where she handled fundraising, golf tournaments, and charity events.
