Telstra Multimedia has launched commercial cable modem services in four Melbourne, Australia, communities.
Customers will purchase the modem, the carrier said, but declined to identify suppliers
Telstra's fiber-coax cable networks pass 1.5 million homes in Adelaide, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney and claim more than 100,000 cable television subscribers. The News Corp-Telstra coventure, FoxTel, serves as anchor programmer.
