The main purpose for supplemental coverage is to pay the difference between what Medicare pays and what you are billed. A secondary purpose is to cover related things that Medicare doesn't cover. Some people won't go to a doctor until they are doubled over. Others go on a whim. Others are hypochondriacs or just scared or lost. Some go just to have someone to pay attention to them. Or because all their friends are getting care or equipment for whatever. Or because the doctor is attractive. There is nothing about Medicare supplemental coverage that speaks to the volume of usage of covered services.
