Jefferies says supercomputer list contradicts

Mellanox's claim Jefferies analyst James Kisner says his examination of the newly released TOP500 supercomputer list indicates continued share loss for Mellanox Technologies' (MLNX) InfiniBand interconnect. InfiniBand has begun to close the gap with Intel's (INTC) Omni-Path in terms of number of systems, but Omni-Path can still claim more systems and an even greater relative share of computing capacity, Kisner tells investors in a research note. He believes the list contradicts Mellanox's claim that Omni-path is not gaining share and has scaling issues. Kisner keeps an Underperform rating on Mellanox with a $38 price target.

I think he means EDR InfiniBand is closing the gap and not InfiniBand in general as that currently has a solid lead. But comparing OmniPath to EDR 100Gb/s InfiniBand, Intel has the greater numbers. I think most folks are still buying FDR because it's cheaper and works fine.
