Another large customer is Motorola.

Recently Plexus was clobbered when Motorola pulled some business back inhouse. I wonder if this has also impacted ACTM? Anyone know?

ACTM makes cable modems for Motorola, I understand (see the title of this thread). I wonder what the current market for cable modems looks like and Motorola's strategy in cable modems. In early December, Barron's had a bullish article on 3Com, saying that in spite of current problems with USR's telephone line modem sales, eventually 3Com will be a big player in cable modems, and the market will be huge.

ACTM makes cable modems(and cable harnesses??) for MOT; was their recent business with 3Com cable modem related? I understand from last year's 10k, that in 1994, Chipcom(acquired by 3Com in 95) accounted for 55% of sales. In 1995, this 3Com business was 41% of sales, and in 1996, 17% of sales, before ACTM lost the business this fall. I wonder what product was made by ACTM for 3Com?

Is the Bay Networks product made by ACTM also cable modem related, or related to the cable harness assembly? I'm trying to get more of a feel of what technologies ACTM has(had?) an edge in, and what products they make for their customers.

Well, Rob you kicked this effort off, so don't blame me when I take the bait. I really believe we need to understand the issues discussed in this post to understand the company's business better. I thank you for raising the issue. I know its difficult to get this information; most ECM companies don't reveal this kind of info easily, so we need to really dig.
