<....don't see how this is all this relevant>. Actually, it's THE most relevant consideration. Here's why:

1. We're in a region of very lo population density and extremely small, tightly knit, communities. Word travels fast if someone sells and installs a substandard roof or performs any other kind of bad work.

2. The ratio of skilled tradesmen such as plumbers, carpenters, electricians, and roofers vs college grads is much higher than anywhere else in the 7 states where I've lived in my 73 yrs.

Sorry you got stuck with a bad roof.

Bottom line? We live in an area with an oversupply of what we need and a shortage of what we have. It's called a competitive edge. Recognizing and making the most of such situations is what's made me wealthy and happy.
