Charlie,

I posted my intentions and my reasons for shorting DEC and SUNW to start a healthy debate. Besides the SEA problem and currency conversions 2 companies that succedd by selling their products on workstation platforms, Oracle and Sybase have tanked in their latest quarter. As I see it the only option DEC has to increase it's stock price is a buy back program or a merger. There is not a single business unit left at DEC that provides high margin added value, pleae don't try to sell me the Alpha chip song and dance, that dog won't hunt!

If you have facts to back up your belief please post them.

I made my statement on DEC's pre-announcments based on research. I am unable to find the press release. There is also something called the SEC that prohibits "whispers" within 30 days of the official announcement of earnings to anyone; something called insider trading. If an analyst makes an earnings adjustment within the 30 period it must be done without the guidance of the company. If this statement is incorrect please correct me with facts.

I have followed this thread since the announcement of the Intel law suit. If I remember correctly the opinions expressed here after the settlement and last quarters earnings announcement are the same as you're expressing now..."looking for the next upsurge".

As we all know that "upsurge" has taken the stock from the low 50's to the high 30's.

Trust me, my past experiences and DEC with not influence my investment judgements. Facts will. Please provide me with some!

Mike V. (looking for a healthy debate)
