Deutsche Telekom adds new options to public cloud services Monday 26 June 2017 \| 10:12 CET \| News telecompaper.com Deutsche Telekom is expanding its public-cloud offering on the Open Telekom Cloud. The existing five High Performance Flavors (4, 8, 16, 32 and 64 vCPU) each receive two options with double and quadruple the main memory. Two further options with 12 vCPUs are also introduced, based on InfiniBand high-speed data transmission. The virtual machines are connected to the network at 100 Gbps and enable low-latency data transmission of less than 2 microseconds. The Open Telekom Cloud now also offers bare metal servers. These target complex big-data applications, offering guaranteed computing speeds. Customers can also acquire new object storage variants (OBS). The previous standard is supplemented by the variants "warm" and "cold", for monthly or annual access to data. These are suitable for archiving data that is accessed rarely or only in exceptional cases. In addition, Telekom updated its support packages with additional services. The three service levels silver, gold and platinum guarantee quick help in emergencies and create an additional direct contact with OpenStack experts. Finally, the Open Telekom Cloud also extended its reach to Asia, at a data centre in Singapore.
