Desktop Win8.1 users had the lowest risk of compatibility problems with Win10 because their computers were newer.

Laptop Win8.1 users also had low risks upgrading to Win10, but probably slightly higher than those with desktop Win8.1 computers.

The common factor was the newness of the equipment/hardware. The other risk factor people faced though was with the addon software programs that they might be using.

For example if you had a program/software for stock trading and analysis it might not be compatible with a newer operating system/OS and that could also require upgrading a specialty program after changing the OS.

Your Win8.1 computer is however safe and will continue to receive security updates from Microsoft till January 10, 2023.

Btw, Thanks for linking the Computer Operating System Poll on your threads as did a few of our other friends and all the help getting the sample size up has made the poll much better. :)
