Ahead Of Trump-Putin Meeting, Russia Halts U.S.-Drafted U.N. Resolution Against North Korea

With President Trump set to meet with his man-crush, Russia’s President Putin on Friday, the stakes are high, and everybody should be watching that meeting with great interest.
Why?
For starters, we can’t trust Russia. They’ve attempted to influence our election (for their own ends, not for our good), their interests seem to always fall opposite of our own, and we’re sending in a wacky reality TV huckster to deal with a coldblooded former KGB agent.
Then there was today’s action by Russia, in regards to a U.S.-drafted Security Council Resolution against the rogue nation of North Korea.
Russia on Thursday blocked a U.N. Security Council Resolution drafted by the U.S. that called for “significant measures” in response to North Korea’s launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).
The U.S. circulated the statement among the 15-member council after announcing plans for a new sanctions resolution against the nuclear-armed regime in North Korea. But an objection by Russia killed the statement, said a U.N. diplomat.
Russian officials argued that the missile launch Tuesday had not been verified as an intercontinental missile.
This objection by Russia goes against not only what North Korea has claimed, but also what is believed and has been determined to be by both the U.S. and the United Nations.
Both agree that the Hwasong-14 missile was, in fact, of intercontinental range, and if they are correct, it is believed that the missile could reach as far as Alaska.
That does not bode well for their neighbors in South Korea, or the U.S.
The draft statement circulated by the U.S. recalled that the council had agreed to take “further significant measures” in the event of another nuclear test or missile launch and that the top UN body would “begin to work immediately on such measures.”
And Russia, in the face of this, has blocked any further resolutions, choosing instead to let the pyromaniac play with matches and gasoline.
RUSSIA IS NOT OUR FRIEND.
How this plays into the discussion between Trump and Putin on Friday remains to be seen. It is said that they will spend much of their discussion on ISIS and the fight against terrorism.
ISIS is important, but of equal importance is the very real threat of allowing a madman like Kim Jong-un to continue his pursuit of building a nuclear arsenal.
