Across the country, union jobs are under threat.

Immigration, automation, outsourcing, and minimum wage hikes have all imperiled vast sections of typically blue-collar union jobs. The trends have led to a collapse in union membership nationally. Now, in Michigan, an unforeseen enemy of union jobs has arisen: Goats.

At Western Michigan University, goat crews are being used to clear harmful brush. Now, union members are pissed that other workers got their goat. The university administration is using local goat crews to clear brush and weeds that are full of “poison ivy and other vegetation that is a problem for humans to remove.”
