Bitcoin today is similar to the internet in 1996....... Bitcoin and crypto currency investment area
My first product design, that I started as an HP summer intern in 1978, was an opto isolator that was CMOS compatible to connect devices to the internet (DARPA net back then?) When I got back to UC and told a TA what I was working on, he said a lightning strike or something took out a connection between buildings and that would have stopped it so it would be useful. Back then, CMOS was running at 20V VDD! Anyway, were were just inventing the technology to get remote teletypes to send I/O to mainframe computers.... while as students we were still using IBM punch cards. 1996 was 18 yrs later ... I believe the internet really took off when AOHell opened it to the masses in the early 1990s... give or take.

Any idea when Bit coin and other crypto currencies first appeared?
