Yeah, Bitcoin transaction costs are very high now, They're supposed to do something on August 1st that is controversial and may (hopefully) lower costs. One thing that drives these other cryptos is Bitcoin's high transaction cost. I own a coin called Litecoin that does similar stuff as Bitcoin, but costs a few pennies per transaction rather than a few dollars.
