(a sad attempt at humour), I read "Khrushchev Remembers" back in the 1980's I have a vague recollection that mass executions of "enemies of the state" were routine for a number of years. Just as Orwells book "1984" was supposed to be a warning, not blueprint on how to run society, the low points of communism are not the only reference points to measure the USA human rights abuses. Sure things could be worse, but could also be much better too. I think there could be a possible better scenario to control the planets human population though education and voluntary birth control then all out nuclear Armageddon which seems to be the current path. It has to be accepted voluntarily on a world wide basis rather then set or enforced by national governments imo. A high population is advantageous for a nation usually, but a few children raised by numerous benefactors, besides the natural parents would have many economic advantages in life. The economic factors are predominant in a child's education for example.
