Patch Tuesday Tomorrow: New Cumulative Updates (and a reboot) ...

Good idea to create a System Update before the distribution.

Microsoft preparing new cumulative updates on Patch Tuesday

Microsoft will publish new security updates tomorrow as part of its typical Patch Tuesday cycle, and as it happens every month, the company will also roll out new cumulative updates for Windows 10 systems.

Tomorrow’s cumulative updates will be entirely based on security, so it’s critical for Windows 10 users to install them as soon as possible, especially because they will address vulnerabilities very likely to exist in all the other Windows versions on the market.

With cumulative updates, Windows 10 users can easily keep computers patched, and installing the latest one always brings a system fully up-to-date because all the previously released fixes are included as well.

"Beware of the cumulative update installation problems"

This is the reason cumulative updates are growing in size with every release, but more recently, the company started rolling out delta updates as well, which include only the changes developed since the previous update, so installing them is possible only if a Windows 10 computer is already up-to-date.

In addition to Patch Tuesday, Microsoft is also rolling out cumulative updates for Windows 10 devices at a later time during the month, though this second release is not focused on security fixes, but more on addressing bugs and other issues in the operating system.

As usual, we recommend all users and IT admins to install tomorrow’s cumulative updates as soon as they’re released. In the past, cumulative updates have been hit with installation bugs and issues affecting Windows 10 itself or certain features in the operating system, but Microsoft has lately managed to reduce the number of problems.

Cumulative updates require a system reboot, so IT admins should keep this mind, as all work needs to be saved before starting deployment. We’ll be keeping an eye out on reports of failed installs or any other bugs that might be experienced by Windows 10 users with these updates. <<
