Linux Sleeps

<< Linux is a sleeping giant that is free. >>

The Linux kernel on manifold OS distros (other than Google's Android/Chroome) for general purpose computing has been a sleeping giant for a long time and today has less than 1% global OS share on computing devices. Linux has a bright future in the 5G IoT world as an embedded smart OS and on specialized systems but it's very questionable to me whether it will see significant growth as a consumer or prosumer computing OS. The sleeping giant turned out to be (Linux kernel based) Android which passed Windows OS share earlier this year on computing devices globally and is still growing share.

We'll likely see as much or more growth in Chrome (as opposed to other Linux distros) which has caught up with the various Linux distros in North America. Just my opinion of course.
