Greg: I erred on one point in my last post. On the CDSL GEAC systems clients could enter a long term say of 10 years and sell it, but, the problem of Year2000 dating would not be a problem until year 2000 arrives. They are converting all of their customers off of the old platform to their modification of the Prologic platform thus solving the Y2K problem in the basic banking software. In Canada very few GIC (term deposits) of greater than 5 years are sold as they would not be CDIC or Provincially deposit insured ($60 k federally and variable for different provinces, in BC $100k with various twists) Hope this clarifies for you.
