Don't know if the north side is having the same problems as the south. One of the biggest is the prevalence of AirBnB rentals, which are attracting 15-20 people per rental rather than the traditional family rentals. Too many late night night parties, parking problems, and trash strewn about.
My town is having a real problem with short term rentals (AirBnB, VRBO). The Council is taking a two prong approach - owner occupied rentals and non-owner occupied. My sense is most of the problems are coming from houses owned by absentee owners. If the owner is in the house, he/she is more apt to keep a lid on undesirable guest behavior.
