I certainly would not go so far as to say "destroy" nor would I perceive any of the countries you mentioned as a "threat" to the US economy, but there certainly are advantages in having the world perceive the US as the world's "safe haven" ..... I am not naive enough to believe economic espionage would not be part of the US economic/political agenda .... it is one of the oldest games in the books.
