EDF Energy Renewables Acquires 11 Scottish Wind Sites

Posted by Betsy Lillian on July 13, 2017

U.K.-based EDF Energy Renewables (EDF ER), a 50/50 joint venture between EDF Energy and EDF Energies Nouvelles, has purchased 11 wind farm sites in Scotland from Partnerships for Renewables, a development and asset management company.

According to EDF ER, the sites, which are either under development or in planning stages, have a potential capacity of 600 MW.“EDF Energy Renewables has a well established strategy to grow our business either by developing our own sites or through acquiring high-caliber projects,” says CEO Matthieu Hue. “This deal underlines our ambitions to develop our business further and to expand the number of wind farm projects we are developing.”

The acquisition follows the opening of EDF ER’s new offices in Edinburgh earlier this year. The renewable energy company focuses on onshore and offshore wind, as well as battery storage. It currently operates 319 MW of wind power in Scotland.
