I've seen DVD. I wasn't impressed by the better Video on a Toshiba 16x9 Home theater. But the SOUND was tremendous! Better than any movie sound ever experienced in the home. You can play your old CDs on DVD. You couldn't do that with LPs or tapes on CDs. When the price of a DVD Player reaches $250, and a CD player costs $150, what's the better buy?

You might want to keep your old VCR for a few years. So you can still time shift.

The best option is to buy a DVD-ROM drive and run it to your TV.

While DVD has better video, don't underestimate the sound. Why buy an audio only CD player? In China, because of VCD, CD players sales are shrinking.
