Poll: Clinton more unpopular than Trump

BY REBECCA SAVRANSKY - 07/18/17 07:34 AM EDT 228

President Trump is viewed more favorably than his 2016 presidential rival Hillary Clinton, according to a new poll.

A Bloomberg News survey finds Clinton is viewed favorably by just 39 percent of Americans, compared to Trump, who is viewed favorably by 41 percent of Americans.

Fifty-eight percent of Americans have an unfavorable view of Clinton, compared to a slightly lower majority — 55 percent — who have an unfavorable view of Trump.

The poll also finds more than one-fifth of those who voted for Clinton in the 2016 presidential race have an unfavorable view of her. In the last Bloomberg poll before the election, just 8 percent of likely Clinton voters reported having an unfavorable view of the former 2016 Democratic nominee.“There’s growing discontent with Hillary Clinton even as she has largely stayed out of the spotlight,” said pollster J. Ann Selzer, who oversaw the survey. "It’s not a pox on the Democratic house because numbers for other Democrats are good."

The poll comes as the Trump administration is battling controversies stemming from the Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election and Donald Trump Jr.'s meeting last year with a Russian lawyer.

Trump often goes after Clinton on Twitter, most recently attacking Clinton on Sunday for her deleted emails.

"HillaryClinton can illegally get the questions to the Debate & delete 33,000 emails but my son Don is being scorned by the Fake News Media?" Trump tweeted Sunday.
