I do miss my major software routinely coming on CD or DVD. Speaking of which, I recommend writing the install key on the back of installation discs when you have them. Belarc Advisor will also tell you the keys for software already installed.

Something else that can be done is to create a software directory and create individual folders for the different installs for your programs with the install key that goes with each. This is very useful to have and I use a flash/thumbdrive to put all my installation software on.

As for your Adobe software, have you talked with Adobe to see if you can transfer your current license to a new machine without the need for a subscription? On one occasion I moved a license for Acronis True Image from one computer to another, but I needed one of their support techs to do it.
