There are a few industry leaders you can bet your mothers pension on Intel, Cisco, Applied Materials, MSFT,IBM

I'd leave AMAT for mother-in -law. This is a heart attack stock. It may have great products and management, but industry itself is extremely cyclical.

Did you watch DJIA behavior just before closing? I think that was exactly what you described a couple of days ago.
