<<This quality of confrontation and engagement with God, as opposed to pure submission, remains a distinguishing characteristic of Judaism.>>
You sure hit the essence of Judaism there. However, from my experience, if you want to get answers as to why certain things (tragedies) have taken place, the confrontation, questioning and wrestling must take place within the love for Adonai, within the Sh'ma (Yisrael , Adonai Eloheinu, Adonai Echad) or there will be just silence, wandering in the desert for 40 years. As you know, Adonai does not respond to pure anger. There can be some compassion or understanding for that, but no active dialogue. And my Hebrew (or real) name is Yaacov. So, I know a lot about wrestling and confrontation. |
