Been there.....done that....taught that.

started with a ruger MK semi auto pistol quite by accident. No pain....and no cycle.

Moved up to a browning hi power some time later out of curiosity.

I teach this to every person I work with.

You can also push the slide out of battery and the gun will not fire.....however if it is double action it will fire once you let go or allow the slide to close fully. Single action will have to be manually re-cocked

the odds of a good outcome are low....but it beats getting shot without any attempt to stop the gun from firing.

Another suggestion is to work to drop the mag. Many weapons will not fire without the mag in place. It does not have to drop free of the pistol.

Grabbing the revolver cylinder can stop the cycle on a revolver. Hold on tight and don't let go. Once you let go the gun will fire. Braking the other guys fingers is always the goal.
