| | | Rule 6 explains Trump's attacks on the media

President Trump feuds with the press because it keeps the media on the defensive, and because it diverts attention from what his administration is really doing.
Having CNN go on ad nausea about a wrestling video gave CNN anchors no room to discuss policy such as rolling back last-minute restrictions on fracking that Obama approved.
But there is a third reason President Trump takes on the media.
It is fun.
CNN's complaint about the wrestling video led Trump supporters to produce more videos. Trump supporters had fun doing this. And fun is the one thing that money can't buy.
Which leads us to Rule 6 in Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals," which says, "A good tactic is one your people enjoy." Trump's wrestling video also followed Rule 5, "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon."
By mocking CNN, President Trump gave his supporters something to enjoy. The happier they were, the more they were engaged in politics.
Happiness also recruited more supporters. This is not hurting him. If it were, Trump would not do it. The media keeps thinking he made his billions by luck.
Trump tapped into an American anger, and he keeps tapping it.
His supporters are fed up with the Establishment, as well they should be. What has the Establishment given them? Stagnate wages, closed factories, and constantly being ridiculed for being Christian or white or male or not going to college. The list is endless.
We get it. We're deplorable.
CNN is the Establishment's cable channel.
Now, I am explaining what my readers already know because I want people to acknowledge this is not happenstance. This is a legitimate tactic used to keep his supporters engaged.
Electing Trump president did not end the battle. To avoid battle fatigue, he tweets and otherwise causes uproar and mayhem in the crusty crowd that acts as if it were our social betters.
They never liked him. Never will. But he defeats them even with their own rules.
Now we are taught that fighting back is not presidential. That is bogus. The media cheered Clinton when he fought back against his impeachment for perjury and suborning perjury. The media cheered Obama when he ridiculed Fox News, and later a private citizen named Donald John Trump.
Now those little serfs at CNN (and other media) take the vapors whenever President Trump calls them Fake News.
It's the N-word according to Chris Cuomo. By N-word, Cuomo must mean nepotism because he got a CNN gig because his daddy and his brother were governors of New York. OK, that's not quite nepotism, but rather the oldest payback in politics: hiring someone's dumb relative.
But CNN craves the attention and promotes this feud, thinking this will garner it ratings, while bringing Trump down.
Silly CNN. Its staff and leaders don't realize just how bad this is for them. The graveyard of reputation is filled with those who feuded with The Donald.
So let us recap why Trump mocks CNN and the rest..
1. It puts the enemedia (I read my comments) on defense.
2. It diverts attention from controversial policy decisions he's made.
3. It's fun. And we'll have fun fun fun... |
