Sinoval vs. American Superconductor - AMSC had a deal to supply Chinese Sinovel with wind turbines. Sinovel just blatantly ripped them off. AMSC stock fell like a rock. I think we are going to loose our tech lead to the Chinese through stupidity. We could keep our lead and it wouldn't be difficult. What we need to do is subsidize fundamental research and it wouldn't cost us a dime. It works like this: the Fed subsidizes research at the College level. Any money derived from patent royalties is split 3 ways: 1/3 back to the government, 1/3 to the institution, 1/3 to the scientist(s) leading the research. This method is stone simple and proven to work. It works WAY better than subsidizing corporations like Solyndra, which by the way I was warning from the beginning was a swindle. Unfortunately our congress is brain dead, and their only concern seems to be getting re-elected.
