This is more often the the case than not, especially if it's a deep gap. Unfortunally some cases take years, and if the fundamentals of a company and it's market change the gap could turn into a ski slope.

I tend to aqree with ahhaha, that there are other opportunities, but then I missed the popular hits altogether, i.e. Yahoo, Amazon, AOL, etc., and am frankly amazed by the multiples. Several factors seem to be at work in these situations, but generally given a high enough stock price a company has plenty of working capital to evolve. Obviously the downside can be sudden, drastic and longterm.

Who knows, it's pretty much timing, in early out before the peak.
