Monsanto was spectacular as it came out of the blue (i.e. not a "big pharma") and cover an area most biotech types don't think much about. The potential size of the deal was also hard to ignore. << One of the problems with Monsanto is that they are violating Mycogen's patents in the agricultural area----could this affect MLNM? Mycogen holds broad patents in most of this area and is now mostly owned by Dow Chem with the $$to pursue litigation.>> Being ignorant of Mycogen, excuse the naive question, how broad can these patents be? I saw your similar post in the Ligand thread and the implication was that these patents would cover anything(?) in plant genetics. Hard to believe, harder to enforce. If they hold and block Monsanto, I guess MLNM will not get many of those milestone payments, let alone royalties -g- PB
