Without strong proof that it was due to an inside job, I tend to believe that as well. My reply to ggersh was meant to be a simple reality check. The Snopes outline was compelling for me. If there comes a time when several Snopes positions are proved clearly wrong, I will immediately reevaluate their reliability. Currently, I can't see any reason to doubt their claims about that particular assessment of the deathbed confession. This is a separate evaluation from any other claims about the WTC events, in my mind.

Generally speaking, I won't trust people who constantly propose conspiracy theories with big holes and ignore clear facts. What I mean by this is that people fall into a trap where any counter facts are a part of the conspiracy and any whiff of confirming evidence is never questioned.

There are people on SI who still believe that Obama was born in Kenya. This is even after Trump dropped the birther issue. It won't matter how much counter information is provided because they are prepared to believe anything that supports their values. I won't argue the point with someone who believes that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon from golden tablets, or that Mary had a virgin birth. I know better.

There are people who probably believe that Hillary C was drunk at a public debate because they saw a fabricated video, even though there is equal video evidence that she was not - at the same debate. Even when they watch the unaltered video, they will not admit their error and apologize. I have no respect for these type of people, but I understand they can never admit their extreme gullibility.

If ggersh still wants to believe in the deathbed confession, I won't bother him or you about anymore.
