COT Positions: Latest commitment of traders positions (commodities) as of July 25th 2017 CFTC commitment of traders report was released on Friday (28th July) and cover positions up to Tuesday (25th July). COT report is not a complete presenter of entire market positions; however, it represents a good chunk of institutional traders, to have a feel of what expected by the big players.

Gold – Net position long and increasing Long positions increased for the first time in seven weeks. The net long position increased by 30,693 contracts to +90.8K contracts.
Copper – Net position long and increasing Long positions increased for second consecutive week. The net longs increased by 8,927 contracts to +24.3K contracts.
Silver – Net position long and decreasing Long positions increased for the first time in seven weeks and by 10,041 contracts to +19.4K contracts.
WTI Crude – Net position long and increasing Speculators increased long positions for the fourth consecutive week and by 26,879 contracts, which brought the net positions to +423.3K contracts.
Natural gas – Net position short and increasing Short positions, last week increased for the seventh time in eight weeks and by 7,409 contracts that pushed the net position to -42.6K
