Revenue of 1.575 was lowered than we all had expected. Hopefully we'll be able to improve upon that. But I think there is a very important point that these analysts forgot to mention... The average purchase price of a Mac has dropped significantly in the last few months. Thus even if the sales was flat, unit shipment probaby has gone up!! Remember, Apple has initiated some very aggressive sales promotion programs in this last quarter.

When things were a mess analysts whined about Apple not making competitive machines. When we found out that G3 sales was rather good analysts were bitching about the non-G3 sales. Now that AAPL is showing a profit analysts are bitching about the revenue. When will these analysts stop putting a negative spin on everything just to cover their own butt?

I think the issue of non-G3 was exaggerated by analysts because it was simply a convenient way of explaining their prediction/expectation of AAPL losing more money this quarter. If you ask around there are plenty of people who will be buying 8600s instead of G3s. I'm sure Apple has cut back the production of 6500 and 5500 months ago.

If you listen to the analysts that were being interviewed before Jobs keynote (Tim Bajarin from Creative Strategies, what's his face from Internet News and James Staten from Dataquest) you'd think that the sky is falling and 1 Infinity Loop is being flooded by 6500 and 8600s. I think everyone should listen to this interview now that we have the benefit of 20/20 hindsight. Some of the things these analyst said seem so silly now.
