Paul, you FAIL TO GET IT, Those days are gone. Gone are the days when Intel can extract hugh premiums. Here is a single example. Go read the Mircro processor report on the release of Intels 300 mhz chip. Intel intended to price the PentiumII 233 at prices higher than but end the chips priceing at $150.00 at the end of the fourth QRT.98. Look where the price is now. An entire years expected revenue at high margins has evaporated. Repeat for emphisis. AN entire Years expected revenue has evaporated. Your a smart guy I expect you to post your estimate of PentiumII 233 annual production volume here times the price change differential. See how meanful the number is. Then multiply the number times the number of other chips Intel sells. Bottom line is the price drops were not according to Intels plan as they would have you beleive. Their running Perinoide. Pricing has colapsed so will revenues. Increased production only exerbates the problem. Inventory is already backing up in the channel. A smart guy like you should know better. I can only assume you choose to ignore these rapidly changing market forces at work. Buying preferences have shifted downward accross the board. Intel will not escape the market forces. Compaq has all but abandoned Intel others will follow they have to. This change is meaningful and you are in denial.
