Re: Capacity and ATAPI..

Dale, just following up a little on the ATAPI version of
the Zip drive.

They have been available to all of the OEM's and resellers,
not just the big guys. This has been concerted effort by IOM to
satisfy product demand of the trade as a whole.

The ATAPI drive is vastly different than any of the other
available Zip drives. Although I'm not an expert on
cost analysis, the difference appears to be substantial.
These guys have gotten it down to a science, this
is without a doubt their low cost model.

A lot of the box makers are using Zip as an add on sale to
improve their margins. The cost to me is $90.00 so these
box makers ( paying a lot less ) are making an extra $80.00, + -
with each Zip add on they sell. I guess that's good enough
incentive to push the drives, the pricing pressure on these boxes
will put extra emphasis on those add-on sales. When these
drives first hit the street the cost was around $129.00 .

One of K.E.'s Top priorities of better customer service
has happened. These guys got the word and made it work.
I've commented twice on this and I still want to say more.

Last week I receive a special pin code to use for express
trouble shooting from IOM. I was surprised to see the promotion
of relationships to the smaller resellers and box makers.
A plan coming together.

Just one other thing, I did stumble across a OEM 5 pk internal
SCSI Zips without controller in stock which is great for the MAC
guys but doesn't do much for us IBM- ers, we need the controller.

For the DOCTOR, I have some questions that I would like to submit
in the upcoming conference call if you could be so kind to consider.

Looking forward to a great quarter.
